Dashboard Guide — What Am I Looking At?
KPI Cards
- Molecules — Total alive molecules in the simulation world (including water, organics, and polymers).
- Vesicles — Protocells: lipid membrane compartments that can encapsulate, protect, and eventually replicate molecules.
- Complexity — Emergent complexity score (0–100) combining polymer diversity, vesicle fitness, catalytic activity, and information content.
- RNA Strands — Information-carrying polymers made of nucleotides. Can become catalysts (ribozymes). Max length and catalyst count shown.
KPI Cards (continued)
- Peptides — Functional amino acid chains. Longer peptides indicate more complex chemistry emerging.
- Fitness — Max and average vesicle fitness. Fitness measures a vesicle's ability to sustain metabolism, replicate, and maintain homeostasis.
- Diversity — Shannon diversity index across molecule types. Higher values = richer chemical ecosystem.
- Energy — Average energy budget per molecule. Energy drives reactions and is supplied by the scenario's energy sources (thermal, UV, redox, lightning).
Charts
- Molecule Population — Tracks the total alive molecule count over time. Look for growth or decline trends.
- Complexity Score — Plots the composite complexity metric with an overlay of max vesicle fitness. Rising curves indicate emergent organisation.
- Vesicles & Assembly — Shows vesicle count, encapsulated molecule count, and micelle (pre-vesicle) count over time.
- Diversity & Reactions — Shannon index alongside reactions-per-step. High reactions + rising diversity = active, evolving chemistry.
